State Fair And Rodeo

OnesomeState: What state (or territory) do you live in? Have you lived in any other(s)? Where would you like to live? And as a bonus: Any idea what year your state became a state?
Tennessee-I have only lived in Tennessee-Tennessee became the 16th state in 1796.

TwosomeFair: Or amusement parks: Did you enjoy them as a kid? What was your favorite ride? How do you feel about them now? Ready to go wander around one again, sampling funnel cakes and corn dogs and riding rides until you’re sick? …or would you rather just enjoy the entertainment or stay home and avoid the crowds?
I loved the County Fair as a child. My Granny lived right down the roa, so we could just walk on over. I go to the fair each year at the beginning of the school year with my Kindergarten class. I enjoy this because we look at all of the exhibits. As a child, I never did that. I usually stay away from the fair, but last year I went with my cusin and her girl and I had fun. I rode 3 rides. I am not big into the rides now.

ThreesomeAnd Rodeo: Have you ever been to or watched a rodeo on TV? Did you enjoy it or consider it a barbaric spectacle? If you liked it, what was your favorite event? Ever tempted to race barrels or ride a bull yourself?
I have never been to a rodeo, but I have watched it on TV.I consider it a barbaric spectacle-lol. I have never raced barrels or rode a bull. I am good friends with many barrel racers. I once had a farm with horses and rode all of the time!

The Thursday Threesome #6

The Thursday Threesome is hosted by Dan at The Back Porch!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

Onesome: Something old– Do you have anything that you’ve owned simply forever? A cherished childhood toy, an antique handed down through the family? …the family Bible?

I still have my toy china tea set, my china doll, and many other childhood memories. Patch (my dalmatian) has taken over a few of my childhood stuffed animals. I also have many afghans that my Granny made over the years.

Twosome: Something new– Buy anything new lately?

I just bought Jedd and his Dad some orange Tennessee crocs, and I got myself some chocolate (color) crocs. I know many do not like these shoes, and I swore I would never wear the “ugly” things until I received a pair for Christmas in 2006. I fell in love! They are soooo comfortable and work great being a Kindergarten teacher. I fit right in with the kids-lol!

Threesome: Something borrowed– Have you ever borrowed an item and never returned it?

I have my friend’s carpet cleaner right now. I have tried to return it, but she told me to keep it until I didn’t really need it anymore. It has come in REAL handy during Patch’s (my 11 year old dalmation: Read my Dogs page if you want to get the details or catch up) sickness. I DO plan on returning it, but I have a feeling she used it as an excuse to buy a new one.

Bonus: Something blue-Can you see anything blue from where you are? What is it?

I have a lighthouse pen/pencil holder. I see the blue sky and the blue water on it. I also have a lighthouse calendar and I see the blue sky and water there.

Anyone Can Miss a Day

The Thursday Threesome #5

Anyone Can Miss a Day

Onesome: Anyone Has anyone made an impression on you lately? No, not on the national level, but at work or school or just ‘around’. …or even here on the web?

I have had quite a few bloggers I have just met make an impression on me lately! Here are a few of them: Live and Let Di, Hootin’ Anni’s, Life Through a Lens, and The Cook Gang. Just today I came across some really great impressionable sites too!

Twosome: Can Miss Speaking of webbish things (and of course we are <g>!), what types of things do you take a miss on at your place and chose not to post about? Just curious…

I choose not to post about my own personal problems/health issues. I do not want sympathy from anyone and I do not want to sound like a whiney baby! Occasionally I might post a topic that relates to me and my personal battles and health issues and something might come up for a bit. But, I choose to keep these things to myself here. I also don’t blog about school that much! I have a class website that holds all of the needed and necessary info there. I have permission from parents to post about their children there and I try to keep it that way!

Threesome: a Day On a similar note: do you post every day? …or just whenever? …or is every session at the computer a spur to work up a little something?

Right now I am posting every day. I am participating in NaBloPoMo for the Month of March and have to post every day. The theme is lists but I do not have to follow the theme. Even before March I was posting every day. Now that I do post every day, I feel I would be lost and behind if I stopped doing this-lol!

Insomnia: The Cure for Sleep

3.jpg

Insomnia, the Cure for Sleep

Onesome: Insomnia– Ever have it? Some do and some don’t, but have you ever been hounded awake for that endless hour after hour with no hope of sleep? …or does the very act of touching head to pillow put you out for the count? I have had sleep problems since I was 13 years old, after my Grandma passed away. I was a bad insomniac in my teenage years. I was known to be out running in the middle of the night. I still have major sleep problems.

Twosome: the cure– Hey, if you do have the occasional bout or chronic insomnia, what do you do about it? Work? Read? Try cures? Hmmm… Did you ever find one that worked? If I take my medicine and go to bed at a reasonable hour, I will sleep fine. But, I usually fall asleep on the couch and wake up in the middle of the night (too late to take my meds) and will be up for hours. THen I will go back to bed and cram 1-2 more hours of sleep in. I know~not healthy at all! When I am up for those few hours I will clean and blog-lol! I am getting too old to live this way~gotta get in a routine!

Threesome: for sleep– Female/male, young/not so young, we all need varying amounts of sleep. What’s your personal sleep cycle? Five hours? Ten hours? …and if you had a choice, what would be your personal sleep cycle? …and yes, “All day long” is a valid answer. I guess my personal sleep cycle would be five hours even though I need it to be longer than that, for my health.

Choreography

the-thursday-threesome.jpg

Choreography:

The art of symbolically representing dancing

Onesome: Choreography: What do you choreograph in your life? Your morning routine? The dinner ritual? How you study? What is ‘designed’ by you?

I design my Kindergarteners’ week day daily lives. I choreograph what we will be doing each day for each child. I have to ad-lib often and be prepared for many changes in our choreographed routines.

Twosome: The art of symbolically: Art? Hmmmm… Sure, what do you like to have? …or do you? …but how about that little symbol you keep on your desk or headboard? The one you keep because??? I mean, if you can share that…

I listened to a great speaker once at an inservice. He talked about the “frogs” we meet. People that might be difficult or looked down upon. He was discussing children, co-workers, and anyone in general. He said we should try to say kind words or do acts of kindness for these “frogs” and see what happens. He gave each of us a tiny rubber frog for us to place somewhere where we will remember to try to “Kiss a Frog” each day. I have my Yellow Rubber Frog on my computer desk so that I can see it each morning and remember to “Kiss a Frog” each day.

Threesome: representing dancing: No, not ‘do you dance?’ (although that’s fine too!); rather, which type(s) of dancing will you stop and watch for a moment? Ballroom? Swing? Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey?

I will stop and watch almost any kind of dancing! I love watching dancers and routines. I wish I had learned to dance when I was younger. Maybe I will take up some free classes in the near future.

Alphabet Soup

 thursday-threesome.jpg

Thursday Threesome #1 (officially)

Alphabet Soup

A~B~C

Onesome: A–ny place but here? Are travel plans looming for Spring break? …or are you staying home?

I’m sure we will be going somewhere~just depends on Jedd and the store. If we go anywhere, it will probably be to tunica or gatlinburg, but my dream is to go to the East Coast and check out some lighthouses.

Twosome: B–etter to look in the mirror before you leave? Have you ever discovered (say around mid-day) that your clothes really didn’t match up?

I do! I always check my shoes~afraid my shoes won’t match. I always feel my shirt to make sure the tag is in the back~I’ve made the mistake of having a shirt on backwards. Thank goodness no one could really tell and I caught it right after I got to work. I also double check these two things as I get out of my car at work. LOL

Threesome: C–atch any good movies lately? What should we go see now that the Oscar’s are done and over for another year?

We rent movies so we are a tad bit behind on what is new & good~we just wait until it comes out on DVD.

The Thursday Threesome

          3.jpg

Ok~I’ve found another Daily Meme I will be doing each week. This one is The Thursday Threesome (sounds kinky-lol). This is a neat meme. Each week there is a different Three word title and each word is listed in consecutive order with a descriptive of the word rolling into a question. I know it isn’t Thursday, but I had to do this one (2-14-08) now because I really liked it!

~Tea For Two~

Onesome: Tea— leaves and fortune tellers? Is there anything you do out of habit because of old sayings? …like not stepping on cracks or staying home on Friday the Thirteenth? …or eating chocolate on Valentine’s Day <g>?

  • I don’t split a pole or anything that can come between me and whoever I am walking with. For example, Jedd and I are walking and we get to a pole~I make sure we both walk on the same side.

  • I X (cross) out black cats that cross my path when I am driving.

  • If I go through an intersection and the light is yellow about to turn red, I kiss my hand and touch the roof of my car.

  • When a clock has the time of the same numbers (3), such as 1:11/2:22/3:33/4:44/5:55~I hold my right ear and make a wish until the time changes!

  • I have been doing these things since high school. Not sure why on some, but my friends and I always did them.

Twosome: for— every time you make it to work or class or an appointment on time, how many times are you late? Just curious…

I am always right on time for work-lol. Appointments~not so good at that. I am on time about half of the time-gotta work on that!

Threesome: Two— weeks and the next day is only there twenty-five percent of the time! Does Leap Year have any special meaning to you? …or is it just one more day of the week?

Leap Year is very special to me. My brothers and I were all born in consecutive leap years. My older brother was born in 1968. I was born in 1972. My younger brother was born in 1976~Bicentennial Year!
